New technologies like organic cement used in repairing spinal fractures might soon help bone marrow cancer patients.

A project led by University of Leeds engineers will focus on the incurable cancer of the bone marrow that causes destructive lesions (abnormal tissue) in bones and makes them more susceptible to fracture.
The study will analyze whether techniques such as injecting organic cements into the spine to stabilize the bone, or using plates to fix fractures can be adapted for affected patients.
Although incurable, improvements in treatment mean that patients with multiple myeloma (cancer of the white blood cells) are surviving for longer, with up to a third surviving for at least five years.
However, a better prognosis means that secondary symptoms, such as painful bone deterioration, have more time to take effect.
“Our aim is to give people suffering from this disease a better quality of life. If the spine becomes weakened or fractures, patients can do little more than stay in bed and try to deal with the pain,” Richard Hall, professor of spinal biomechanics, who is leading the research.
“The majority of multiple myeloma patients are in their 60s or older, but even simple things that we take for granted, such as sitting your grandchild on your knee, can become impossible for them,” Hall said, according to a Leeds release

Reduce the risk of premature heath, particularly from cardiovascular disease.

Reduce the risk of developing diabetes & colon cancer.

Reduce the risk of developing high blood pressure or reduce already elevated blood pressure.

Promote psychological well-being & reduce depression & anxiety.

Control weigh.

Build & maintain healthy muscles, bones & joints.

Improve the strength of older adults & their ability to move without falling.

Excess weight is closely associated with the risk of numerous health problems including diabetes, cardiovascular disease & joint problems.

Managing your weight involves not only your diet, but also how much & how intensely you exercise. If you lead a sedentary lifestyle your body is less efficient & when you do perform occasional exercise, your body burns easily accessible carbohydrates rather than stored fat. However, the more regularly you exercise over time – for instance, as you work up to a 20-30 minutes period on most days & stick with this for 6 months – the more your body will start to shift in favor of burning fat over carbohydrates. Essentially, your body adapts to regular exercise and becomes more efficient.

If weight loss isn’t an issue for you, there are still health benefits associated with the 1/2 hr of activity on most or all days of the week. Do something you enjoy that involved moving the large muscles in your hips and legs. And if you can’t sustain a moderate activity level for 30 minuets straight, break down your activity into 10- or 15- min chunks of time. For instance, try taking a brisk 10 min walk in the morning and doing the same in the afternoon and the evening (total of 30 minutes of activity) – but avoid moderate or higher-intensity exercise for at least an hour after a substantial meal.

However, if you goal is to lose weight, try gradually increasing the amount of time you exercise or are physically active. Doing so increases the potential for fat loss.

If weight loss is your goal but you’ve been inactive, don’t expect to do an hour a day of moderate activity right away. Gradually build up your activity level over weeks and months with the goal of reaching 30 minutes/day – that 1/2 hrs nets you important health benefits.

For the weight loss aspect, gradually add time. You may want to vary your activities and break them into 15 to 20 minutes periods throughout the day that eventually add up to 60 minutes per day.

Stress is something that happens in our daily lives and is usually associated with a particular event such as work, family or other responsibilities. There are many situations that we can not control, but there are ways to control how we deal with certain situations. Effective Stress management is something that our lives can go a little more smoothly.

We have little control over family deaths, emergencies or accidents, but we can see some of the circumstances under which our daily life. One of the biggest stress factors in our lives is often work. Since most of us can not afford to quit, some stress management can go a long way.

Stress management can help you control your emotions and the way you deal with the stress can not be avoided. It can help you relax and reduce the fear occurs to you. It can also help you stay healthy. Continued periods of extreme stress will eventually take its toll on your health. They develop a lower level of resistance against the disease make you vulnerable to almost every disease that comes along.

If Electromagnetic Radiation can travel through the vacuum of space then it can travel without a medium, but shouldn’t this be imposable? Or is it true that Electromagnetic Radiation uses the medium of existing magnetic fields, such as earths, distorting these fields much like sound waves do to air? And if so how can this have a direction of travel?

Electromagnetic waves travel through a vacuum and any other physical medium slows or stops their progression. They do not use existing magnetic fields as a medium, though they do interact with them.

An electromagnetic wave is nothing more than a propagation of a changing electric and magnetic field. These fields are always perpendicular to each other and travel in the direction of E x B, where E and B are vectors indicating the direction of these fields.

It’s because these are electric and magnetic fields. These fields are just regions where forces are exerted on charged particles; they are not made of particles themselves in the same way that sound waves are made from air molecules.

Many types of cancer, Neurological conditions, Sleep disorders, Cognitive problems, Hormone disruption and fertility impairment, Immune system disorders, Metabolism changes, Feeling anxious even when you are not stressed, Dizziness can be cause by Electromagnetic Radiation.

First, you need to understand that over time your nutrition and your daily lifestyle can either make you healthy or sick. Maintaining a proper diet filled with vegetables, fruits, nuts and grains, and sparingly eating lean meats, and avoiding toxins such as sugar and alcohol will put your body in better condition to resist disease. Regular exercise helps to detoxify the body and eliminate free radicals.

Second, educate yourself on this topic.

Third, spend less time watching TV or move back farther from the screen. Turn off TVs, computers, and other electronic devices when they are not in use. Limit cell phone time and microwave use.

Fourth, use Keva Anti Radiation Cell Phone Chip; I can determine whether you are electro-magnetically sensitive. If you react to electro-magnetic fields, your body can be naturally reprogrammed in a few sessions to be non-reactive to the hazardous effects of EMFs and help you prevent disease caused by the negative side of advanced technology

One reason for concern is the fact that children who start using cell phones at a young age will inevitably be exposed for a longer period of time over their entire lifetime to cell phone radiation. But researchers are also concerned about the risk of cell phones with children, because children’s nervous systems are not fully developed. Also their brains contain more fluid than brains of adults, which allows for deeper penetration of radiation. And finally, children’s skulls are not as thick as those of adults.

The reality is that the head of a child is different in terms of density of the bone and the amount of fluid in the brain than that of an adult. And we know that the more fluid there is an object, the more deeply the radio signal can penetrate.

Because cell phones have only really been used widely since about the 1990s, research on long-term health effects is limited. But research on the effects on children is even scarcer. Still, there has been enough concern among public health officials in various parts of the world to warrant warnings.

A government regulatory body located in the home country of Nokia, the largest cell phone maker in the world, is urging parents to restrict cell phone use for children, suggesting parents encourage kids to text rather than talk. Although research to date, has not demonstrated health effects from mobile phone’s radiation, precaution is recommended for children as all of the effects are not known.

A report recommends minimizing any potential risk by using hands-free devices and keeping cell-phone talk to a minimum.

The wireless industry itself has resisted warnings or restrictions for its products. And it often points to research indicating that there is no link between cancer or other harmful health effects and cell phone use.

In the late 1940’s scientists developed the first machines that could store and use encoded instructions or programs. In the beginning the users performing a variety of computations had to rewrite the basic hardware of the computers. Later on the innovations dramatically changed and increased the flexibility and usefulness of computers. Instead, they could simply direct the computer to perform one of the functions that it had stored in its memory.

As computers grew more powerful and the tasks they performed grew more complex, computer experts and scientists developed more complex sets of instructions that are executed automatically by the computers.

Advances in computer technology have made greater efficiencies of processing possible with out the need of manual operators. Most modern computers, particularly the personal computers are made and developed in a manner that they serve general purpose and that feature a high degree of programming flexibility.

As the computer technology has many diversified sub fields there are different roles defined for different sets of action and activities which cover the core technology of computing. The task of adapting an application program designed to run on one operating system to another computer system is often technically complex, and costly.

In recent years, software developers have developed programs to allow users to move files from one application program to another. Still the problem of compatibility between applications, programs and operating systems remains a major concern in the computer technology and software industry.

The major boost to the Information technology was due to the ever growing popularity of internet utility, which with the help of interactive support of web browsing really encompasses every aspect of toady’s life. Internet has gained such a positive boost and response in the modern day living that almost every thing seems related to it. The new television services and high dimension video, audio facilities are giving it more popularity with the common people.

The web has become a mass media phenomenon. With the development of web browsers the personal computers have gained the ability to access a sea of information on the web from the millions of websites. Internet has become a transaction medium for most electronic commerce and it is one emerging field which has lot of potential. It gives the users a lot of freedom and convenience in making transactions with various vendors from the safety of their homes or offices.

Computer technology has created a lot of job openings for professionals as well as non technical people; free lance web portals are also very well known and active contributors in providing experts and required workforce to the relevant fields from across the globe.

The technological change in the field of computers is helping the mankind in many ways; starting from the basic household to the technical levels of expertise, the computer technology is really covering all the aspects. The prompt access to information pertaining to any field or subject is now in the reach of average person due to the popularity and the user friendly nature of the internet.

If you’re stressed out from work, the hyperactive kids or the never-ending family errands, you might want to take a break to relax. But, what are the ways to relieve stress so you won’t look like you are 20 years older.

There are an infinite number of ways you to manage stress. In this article, doing these stress reduction exercises daily can prevent anxiety, depression and relationship issues.

Now, close your eyes and visualize that you are in somewhere peaceful. Sit with a relaxed posture and breathe deeply. Feel the entering and exiting of each of your breath. Visualize the surroundings of the place you chose. If you chose the beach, listen to the sounds of the waves, the gentle breeze kissing your face and admire how blue the sky is. Do this exercise for as long as you need to.

No, not petrol or cooking oil. I’m talking about essential oils used in aromatherapy. Inhaling the scents of essential oils can calm the mind and spirit. Different oils can invoke different type of emotions on different people.

Just like essential oils, slow and relaxing music can help reduce the stress you have. Choose some soothing songs can close your eyes while you enjoy and relax. Hypnotic audios are also a great way to induce you in a relaxation trance. All of the above stress management exercises can actually be used together at the same time, enhancing the calming effect. In no time, you can be up and running, finishing the day’s tasks.

Being more efficient with your time is irrelevant if you don’t know how you want to spend it. In managing time, the compass is more important than the clock. Know where you want to go and spend your time on the things that get you there.

Many people spend energy trying to be more efficient without first doing what’s important: setting goals. It’s like being lost on your way to a new city. Driving faster doesn’t help if you are going in the wrong direction. Figure out what direction to go in and head that way.

It is always good to know how you’re spending your time right now. You can track this by setting a timer to go off every 15 minutes; whenever it sounds, write down exactly what you are doing. Alternatively, divide your day into 15-minute blocks and record each activity you do.

Once you have your time logs, examine them. How do they compare to your goals? Are you spending time where your priorities are?

This sounds too simple, but it really is the basis of all time-management systems. Your to-do list can be electronic, on fancy paper, bound in a notebook or loose-leaf. The key is to have everything you want to accomplish on one list. My to-do list might have a one-line item on it, such as “write annual report,” which refers me to a much larger file or even a file box on that item.

I sometimes find my to-do list is too big. Every item on the list calls out “pay attention to me!”, even though most of them weren’t highlighted as important. In these cases, I take a blank sheet of paper and cover my to-do list and write down only the three or four most important items. Those are the ones to focus on.

I use a number of tricks to break any lingering tendencies to procrastinate. For instance, I happen to like having a hard copy of my digital to-do list. I reprint it every few days as new items are added and completed ones dropped. It is at these times that I look for the items that I’ve marked as high priority, but which are just not getting done.

People often say I have great self-control. In truth, though, much of it is environment control. I control my environment to eliminate things that I might use to procrastinate. Take games off your computer, for example, sell your TV, and get rid of the busywork jobs that you use to avoid the important tasks.

Organization and time management are linked. I find that I get important things done when I have all the tools I need to perform the job.

The opposite of organization — chaos, clutter, disorganization — generally leads to busy work. If your desk is piled high, every piece of paper says “look at me.” You can end up doing a lot of work without ever getting to the important stuff.

One way to expand your time is to get others to help you with it. The key to delegation is to hand off any tasks that someone else can do significantly faster or more easily than you can.

Saying “No” can be the most powerful time tool you can master. When someone asks you to do something, ask yourself how important this is. Does it help you achieve your goals? Is this a task you would be better at than most people? Don’t always look for reasons to get out of things, but be strategic about what you take on.

This doesn’t mean that I always say no when asked to help out. But if I do say no, I am always polite and tactful, and try to suggest someone else who would do the job well.

Committing 100% focus and concentration on one task at a time can be very powerful. Eliminate distractions. Focus on the task. When you’re properly organized and prepared, when your energy and power are high, you can often complete a task in 20% of the time it would take when you’re distracted or open to interruption.

High efficiency is not possible if you don’t look after yourself. Eat right, exercise, sleep well and drink moderately. Mom knew best: all the things she said were good for you just happen to be best for your efficiency, too.

I also believe meditation can be a great way of building your efficiency. It could be transcendental meditation, Zen, or just finding a way to get into a relaxed state that lets you focus on the task you have to do. No matter how you do it, recharging your batteries gives you the power to do more during the times you need to be at your best.

Finally, a word of advice. If after reading this far you’re feeling a bit overwhelmed, I suggest you go back to Rule 1 and add peace (contentment) to your list of goals. Time management is not about adding stress; it is about giving you the time to be the person you really want to be.

The lure of “thinner thighs” has been used to market countless books, DVDs, and diets over the years. If new research published today is confirmed by other studies, though, perhaps there should be an addendum: but not too thin. The researchers who followed 2,800-plus people for longer than a decade reported that—believe it or not—a smaller thigh circumference is associated with a bigger risk of heart disease and premature death. This effect was independent of body fat percentage and BMI.

First, it’s not the case that the bigger the thighs, the lower the risk, no matter what. People with thighs measuring less than 60 centimeters (a little more than 23 ½ inches) around were at higher risk of heart problems and early death than those with larger thighs, but no extra benefit accrued to either men or women whose thighs were more than 60 centimeters around. (And that’s not that big—go measure yourself, just below the point where your seat meets your legs.)

Even if your thighs are smaller than the cutoff, you do not have permission to eat until they reach that milestone. This study—as well as similar research that found an association between wider hips and a lower rate of heart disease and early death—doesn’t pinpoint the mechanism that might be behind the link.

But another hypothesis is that larger muscles—in the thighs and in the rear end, in the case of hip circumference—are the protective element. Other research shows that low amounts of muscle mass in the lower body may mean the body is less able to use insulin to help process glucose, possibly leading to type 2 diabetes and perhaps, eventually, heart disease.
