Anti –Freeze Solution

The water and ice become the first hand necessity during summers but can you imagine this ice which is direly needed in summers can create problems for us?

Water is used in radiator of vehicles for the proper functioning of he engine. It provides desired temperature to the engine but if the vehicle is to be used is places where the temperature is less than zero, then water would freeze to ice in the radiator. To avoid this problem, Chemistry gave us solution to this problem in form of anti freeze solutions.

Certain substances are used in radiators so that water does not freeze at low temperature in radiators. These are called anti freeze solution e.g. enthylene glycol is used in car radiators which lower the freezing point of water. By changing the amount of ethylene glycol, freezing point can be lowered to the desired extent thus helping in the proper functioning of engine vehicles.

So whether it is the problem of hot water in summers or cold water in winters, chemistry is always there with its solution.
